"It is better to leave comments then receive comments." This is the blogger's golden rule.
As I look across the landscape of blogs all over the internet I see many blogs dying from lack-of-comments-disease. People stop posting to their blogs because they get no comments in return and therefore assume no one is listening. And so their blog dies.
A few tips on how to save your friend's blog:
1 Comment on other blogs and you will boost the comments and traffic on your own blog because people will click back through to your blog.
2 "Pay the man" a standard rule of thumb should be that if you read an entire article that someone wrote on their blog leave a comment to just give them props, consider it the "price of admission"...It could even be a comment that just says thanks and that's it.
3 During each blogging session spend the first 5 to 10 minutes looking at other people's blogs. Read an article and then leave a comment.
Now that everyone is connected to each other it gives us incredible potential to support each other by supporting each other's blogs because each blog is a moving monument to that person's thoughts, ideas and imaginations.
And if you're part of the crowd who is ready to give-up on posting all together because you are not getting the responses you expect. Then take heart, there are probably many more people than you realize reading your blog.
During the first week that moreburritos.com was on the web it received over 5,000 hits which is a HUGE number compared to the relatively small number of comments that it received on the articles. So people are probably reading your blog but just not commenting.
So do your part, pay it forward, comment on your friend's blogs and it will come back to you.
