Entry: The young life of "Rae-Rae" Saturday, October 28, 2006

Welcome to Rae's childhood, observe, enjoy and understand why I am who I am!

(You can click on any of the images to see them larger)

Fishy, Fishy, Fishy, Fish!

As a little tot Rae knew how to rock the sands of Hunnington Beach.

scan_6819115431_4 That chair was very dear to me, in those days we were very close. As time went on we grew apart, I grew big and it grew ratty. I will remember our sandy days in the sun with fondness.

Um, here I am... uh... well you see... I think I was... acctually it's a funny story... er.

AAAAAHaHaHaHa!

Oh, I know! I must have been stretching up for the mighty task ahead-

WE'VE GOT SAND!!! A-HAHA!

And we're s till smiling :D

Dad always had an eye for creative Christmas cards. While riding our bikes along the beach we came across a tree in a trash can-

Rae: WAIT DAD! A TREE!
Dad: (pulls out tree, plants it firmly, looks intently) Grab the camera!

For those of you who wern't aware, I am actually a fish who eventually adapted to dry land. I also happened to be a catadromous fish... (can transition from fresh to salt water)

San Diego Wild Animal Park

Binturong:*Sniff Sniff* What IS this strange looking creature? It's an odd color of pink and it's hair is incredibly ungroomed... there is only one explination- it must still be a cub!

Rae: WHAT THE HECK IS THIS THING??
Uhh... it's smelling my head.
OOOh goodness, it's on my head!

(*snicker, snicker* apparently the smell of my head has been popular for some time!)

Rae: I'm petting a cheetah. I'm petting a freaking cheetah.

Holy crap I'm petting a cheetah.
...pretty, pretty, kitty...

Naumbu: I am to dignified for this. I'm out of here...

oooh, wait a sec, that feels good... a little lower... to the left... ahhhhh.

I suppose this human isn't so bad. Mmmm... is that beef jerky?

I'm supposed to do what now?!?  scan_681912253_4

Jim Henson called, they're looking for a run away muppet.

So I look a little suspitious... you would to if you saw this things face.

Oh... and it took a swipe at my dad.

Camping

Wondering through the woods

I had the habbit of picking up rocks and taking them home.

Clickity Clanking in my pockets, the little orphan rocks hoped that mom wouldn't make Rae turn them out into the cold when she got home.

Lassen National Park. This was the night I had freaked my dad out.

The sun was about to set, dad wanted to take pictures of the sunset on the lake, and Rae wanted to hear the National Park Band Stand at the Ranger Talk.
Dad: "You know how to get back?"
Rae: "Yeah, we've been here for a whole week!"
I hopped onto my bike and headed up the hill, I came across a fork in the road and sat a while wanting to be sure of my direction... well, it turns out I that I've always had directional problems. I took a left and after a couple minutes I heard the sound of a trumpet "That must be the band! And I was worried I went the wrong way!" I continued up the hill as it began toget darker and darker... I started to panic knowing I should have gotten there already, but that trumpet, it kept getting louder and louder. The sun had almost set competely when I came across the trumpet, I was up on the road and down the hill on a tree stump with nothing else around as far as the eye can see  was a man, playing the trumpet. "EXCUSE ME MISTER! I'M LOST! I WAS FOLLOWING THE SOUND OF YOUR TRUMPET.... HELP!" He came up and calmed me down (I tried to explain to him that my biggest worry was how pissed dear ol dad was going to be... they tried to convince me that he wouldn't get mad at all and would just be glad I was ok. Ha. We flagged a minny van and they went to the camp to get my dad.
Mean while....
Dad arrives at the Ranger talk, first searching the audience for my face, then the bike rack...
Ranger on stage: "Excuse me, Mr. Edgett?"
Dad: commence panic.

Above and Right is the day after the biking fiasco. The cool thing about Lassen during the frost is that it's really hot outside, but there's snow.

Yet again, another genius Christmas card :D

I do belive this is a river near half dome, that day we hiked up and down Misty Falls. I was wearing a skirt and I recal my dad's shoes being untied...

If you're wondering about the pose... my dad was in a photography class when I was very little... until I was about 13 all my poses were very... uh, poserly.

Sigh, good times at San Clamente. Some of my dearest friends from the Single Parents crew. I miss them so much, I haven't heard from them in many years (I would contact them and all... but I have no idea where they are. They were always willing to go on an adventure with me, and for that I am forever greatful!

It was my birthday alright?!? Well... not that I didn't do that every other hang out. I just happened to be the one with the expansive imagination, they were more than happy to be my hand maides.

At least I wasn't being a pretty princess, I was a worrior queen. I had just conquered the down stairs from the primative parent folk. Hip-Hip Hazzah! Long live the queen!

Dancing has always made me happy, I was skaning long before I knew what ska was. I love my cousin too, he's really cool. In those days he really looked up to me. He was busting up laughing while I was dancing and eventually joined me. Good ol' Patch. scan_6819121437_1

Well Helllllllllllo little girl! Mama made my outfit and daddy dressed up to match. I need to learn how to sew before I have kids... so I think I have some time!

This will be my first year not going "all out". sigh.

 Disneyland

Disney in the rain, there's nothing better! Unless you happen to throw in a Gibson girl cone and a drenched high school band.

My dad took me to Disneyland every year for my birthday, and since it's in December and all rain was a common occurrence. Lots of rain = few people = no lines = lots of magical fun!

Yeah, I definitely had the hotts for him then too... I've come to the conclusion that it's spunky guys in tight green outfits. (yeah, I had a thing for Peter Pan as well)... and Tom Cruise in Legend....

Nerds and guys in green...

Little did I know, in ten years I would get paid to do this! AH-hahahaha!

I believe I discovered these holes during the lion king parade when they stuck very tall poles in the middle of the street to do acrobatic stunts. I really thought I was the only one who knew about em. heh.

L: Dad certianly knew how to make me laugh, he taught me well. BWAhahahaHAHAha... heh.

Thats right! I started early... so for all you aspiring cooks, get goin and pick up that spatula!

Below: One of the ideal moments in life, curled up on a fluffy bed, surrounded by stuffed friends, covered in a sea of bubbles reading a good book. I think it just might be better than Disneyland in the rain.

What a wonderful trip into the makings and the early formation of the artiste Rae! Have you thought of using some of these images in your art? I am looking forward to having you visit our home and helping you make more memories.

Heh, this was cool . . . you had a very wide range of facial expressions, even at such a young age.
